Description

The purpose of this chapter is to explain the research programme adopted by linguists working in the framework of Chomskyan linguistics. It is not the author's intention to discuss all the objections that have been raised against it. Some of these objections will be presented in later chapters, because they play a role in the discussions between Chomskyan linguistics and its competitors.
