Description

This chapter introduces the so-called derivation-and-evaluation framework and illustrates it by means of a topic that was also discussed in the introduction -- Object Shift. It shows that Chomsky's proposal can be readily rephrased in optimality-theoretic terms and that this has a wide range of empirical consequences.
