Description

This chapter looks at where teachers’ beliefs come from. It focusses on the classical sources of teachers’ beliefs, including their own learning experiences, language teacher education, teaching experiences, and others. However, it expands on these traditionally cited sources and look at teachers’ beliefs in connection with their own lives, and how these outside factors (e.g. friends and family, religion, previous careers etc.) can also be sources of teachers’ beliefs about teaching and learning English.
