Description

Here the overlapping themes of the earlier chapters are brought together to argue that many of the assumptions made about the purely destructive effects of the Dissolution are now hard to sustain. The archaeological evidence presents a much more complex picture of the diverse afterlife that the majority of the monasteries experienced, one that unfolded for decades after their initial closure in the 1530s.
