Sayeh Meisami is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Dayton. She holds a PhD in analytic philosophy from the University of Tehran and a PhD in Islamic philosophy from the University of Toronto. Her published books include Naṣīr al-Dīn Ṭūsī: A Philosopher for All Seasons (2019), Knowledge and Power in the Philosophies of Ḥamīd al-Dīn Kirmānī and Mullā Ṣadrā (2018), and Mulla Sadra (2013).
Description
This chapter is concerned with various Islamic philosophical schools’ treatments of the nature of God and the God-world/world-God relationship, with particular emphasis on divine agency, God’s attributes, theodicy, prophecy, providence, and the afterlife.
