He has taught at King AbdulAziz University in Jeddah, KSA and is currently teaching Islamic and Arabic Studies at the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University in Calgary, Canada. He is a specialist in pre-modern Islamic thought, Arabic Sufi literature, Arabic language, modern Arabic literature, and Islamic art and architecture.
Description
This chapter addresses selected love themes found in Ibn ‘Arabī’s earlier works. It outlines and clarifies the main ideas where Ibn ‘Arabī describes his ideas concerning the mystical language of love. It also traces the manner in which his idea had a lasting influence on the many Sufi mystics and philosophers who came after him.
