Description
The story begins with Mahapajapati Gotami entering the forest of Bamboo Grove alone to meet with the Buddha. Her followers are waiting outside the gate. Gotami asks the Buddha for permission to ordain. Three times, he replies enigmatically that she should not ask the question.
