Daniel Xerri is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Linguistics and TESOL at the University of Malta. Reflective writing and research methodology are staple parts of his teaching. Teacher research is one of his research interests and he has published widely on this subject. Some of his co-edited books include: Becoming Research Literate: Supporting Teacher Research in English Language Teaching (2018), and ELT Research in Action: Bringing Together Two Communities of Practice (2020). He is also the author of the British Council guide, How can teachers best be encouraged to engage with research – published and their own practitioner inquiry? (2022).

Description

This chapter focuses on the qualities of a reflective teacher-researcher. It delves into the mindset and skills required for effective reflection, emphasizing the importance of continuous inquiry and self-assessment in teacher research endeavours. Practical strategies for cultivating a reflective disposition are also discussed.
